The Ace of Cups
20 November
For the suit of cups, I chose the Quaich to represent cups, which is a distinctly Scottish cup with deep origins in the hospitality culture of the Gaels. In Highland culture of centuries past, the quaich was used to welcome travelers and offer hospitality from the Clan. In today’s culture, the quaich survives as a Christening cup and often used at weddings for the couple’s toast.
